Fruit of the Spirit

Gentleness and meekness? Were these the characteristics you thought you’d aim for as you grew in greater understanding of yourself and you abilities? Or do assertive and successful better describe your original plans for yourself?
Let’s talk about that. My idea of a woman who is gentle and meek is that she can take it. She bears the disturbances others create. She endures ill treatment. She withstands misunderstandings. And she carries the image of Jesus and His suffering in her heart. She handles it with strength. I encourage you to open your heart and mind to gentleness. God so desires gentleness to characterize your life. In the eyes of the world today, gentleness may look like weakness. But in Galatians 5:23, God calls it the fruit of His Spirit. And producing that kind of fruit calls for the greatest of strength.
Dear Lord, I pray you would plant the fruit of Your Spirit in me and cause it to flourish. Help me to abide in You, Jesus, so that I will bear fruit in my life. Holy Spirit, fill me afresh with Your love today so that it will flow out of me and into the lives of others. You said in Your Word to “let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts”. I pray that Your peace would rule my heart and mind to such a degree that people would sense it when they are around me. Help me to “pursue the things which make for peace and the things by which one may edify another”.
Lord, where I need to be pruned in order to bear more fruit, I submit myself to You. I know that without You I can do nothing. You are the vine and I am the branch. I must abide in You in order to bear fruit. Thank You for Your promise that if I abide in You and Your Word abides in me, I can ask what I desire and it will be done for me. Thank You for Your promise that says if I ask I will receive. May I be like a tree planted by the rivers of Your living water so that I will bring forth fruit in season that won’t wither.
In Jesus name I pray
The fruits of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
Galatians 5:22-23
By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.
John 15:1-8
