Holiness and Purity

Where I need to be pruned in order to bear more fruit, Lord, I commit myself to You. I know that without You I can do nothing. You are the vine and I am the branch. I must abide in You in order to bear fruit. Help me to do that. Thank You for Your promise that if I abide in You and Your Word abides in me, I can ask what I desire and it will be done for me.

If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.

John 15:7-8

Being holy is not being perfect. It’s letting Him who is holy be in you. We can’t be holy on our own, but we can make choices that allow holiness and purity to be manifested in our lives.

Purifying yourself means asking God, who is holy, to purify your heart because unholiness happens there first. Purifying ourselves means taking stock of our lives, thoughts, actions, associations, and business dealings, and cleansing ourselves from anything that contaminates us. When God said, “Be holy”, He meant we are to take specific steps to see that we do not live an impure lifestyle. We are to deliberately turn away from anything that glorifies immorality and other unholiness.

Dear Lord, continue to purify me by the power of Your Spirit, help me to “cling to what is good” and keep myself pure.  You have said in Your Word that You did not call me to uncleanness, but in holiness (1 Thessalonians 4:7). You chose me to be holy and blameless before you. Thank you Father, for I know that I have been washed clean and made holy by the blood of Jesus.

 In Jesus name I pray

Amen

But as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.”

1 Peter 1: 15-16

But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God

1 Corinthians 6:11

And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.

1 John 3:3
