The Beauty of a Woman: In God’s Eyes

I overheard two Christian moms talking about a show they’d seen featuring teenagers saving money for cosmetic surgeries. Sadly, as the women discussed the topic, it became clear they had the same frustrations as the teen girls did about their appearances. They had the same trouble accepting themselves as beautiful. I don’t think that’s a mere coincidence. The negative attitudes adult women have about their bodies and looks are affecting how young girls see their bodies.

I want you to believe in your beauty and your value. Ephesians 2:10 reminds us that ” we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” You are the lovely work of God’s hands. Trust that true beauty is all about your heart. And let the young women in your life know this too.

Beauty begins in the heart, inside a woman, at her very core. May your prayer be, “Lord, grant that I may become inwardly beautiful.” The wise woman after God’s own heart seeks to be noticed not for clothing or jewelry, or a good figure, but for kind and good character. Now, I’m not saying, neglect your outward appearance; just make sure there’s a godly balance. First Timothy 2:9-10 exhorts women to “adorn themselves in modest apparel, with propriety and moderation, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or costly clothing, but, with good works.”

It’s not bad to stay fit, eat healthy, manage your weight, and dress in good taste. Just don’t let outward appearance that the world thinks you should be like an obsession that undermines the godliness and loveliness that are born of the heart.

***We train our eyes to look at someone’s physical appearance. God sees through physical appearance into the heart. Society to often believes that an ugly face or ugly body with a beautiful heart is an unattractive person. To God, real beauty comes from who we are, not what we look like.***

Dear Lord, teach me to see my beauty through Your eyes. Help me let go of discontentment about my appearance. Give me the desire to treat my body as a temple and to treat my life as creation for good works through Christ. Lord, let my good works and kindness be what people notice first about me. When I’m discouraged about my physical appearance, help me choose ways to improve my health from the inside out. I want my loveliness to be pleasing to You.

In Jesus name I pray

People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at a person’s thoughts and intentions.

1 Samuel 16:7

When we are solid, steadfast, dependable, reliable, loyal, and trustworthy and do what is right no matter what, we exhibit faithfulness. Pray that His faithfulness will continually grow strong in every day you are alive. Pray that your faithfulness will strengthen everyone you touch and inspire others to greater faithfulness too.

Add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness” (2 Peter 1:5-6). Ask God to plant self-control in you that will grow up like a tree of strength. Ask Him to help you rein in your passions, desires, and emotions to make them subject to His Spirit. He will give you the self-discipline you need.

Lord, Thank you that You are near to all who call upon You and You will fulfill the desire of those who fear You. Thank You that You hear my cries and will save me from any weakness that could lead me away from all You have for me.

In Jesus name I pray

Watch and pray, lets you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

Matthew 26:41

My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.

James 1:2-4
